Last updated 4 August 2026. Questions about any of this? Message us on WhatsApp — we answer as ourselves, not as a form.
We sell fresh seafood, and freshness is the entire promise. If your order arrives and something is not right — the fish is not fresh, the cold chain failed, the weight is short, or it simply is not what you ordered — tell us within 24 hours of delivery with a photo, and we will replace it on your next order or refund that item.
We do not ask you to send fish back. A photo and a message are enough. This is a small business on a small coast; our reputation travels faster than any policy document.
How orders work. You build a cart on this site or message us directly. Nothing is charged automatically. We confirm availability, the final weight, and the total on WhatsApp before you pay anything.
Prices. Prices shown are per kilogram or per pack in Kenyan Shillings, and can change with the season and the day's catch. The price we confirm on WhatsApp is the price you pay.
Cooler boxes and transport are charged at cost — we do not add a margin to them. Both are optional if you are collecting or arranging your own transport.
Payment is by M-Pesa after we confirm your order. We do not store card details, because we do not take cards.
Cancelling. Because the catch is bought fresh for your specific order, tell us as early as possible. Before we buy and pack, cancelling costs nothing. After packing, we will discuss it with you fairly.
We deliver countrywide. Mombasa goes by rider the same day. Everywhere else travels by express courier or bus in a sealed EPS cooler packed with ice, which holds temperature for up to 72 hours. Routes further from the coast take longer, and we tell you the realistic time before you pay.
What delivery costs. Two separate charges travel with your order: the cooler box, and the transport. Box prices are published on the shop page — KES 600 for 5 kg up to KES 2,000 for 20 kg. Transport is quoted on the size of that box, because a bigger cooler costs more to move, and we pass on exactly what the transporter charges us with no margin added.
Why we do not publish a fixed transport price. It changes with the route, the transporter and the weight, and we would rather quote you the real figure than advertise one we cannot hold. You see fish, box and transport as three separate lines on WhatsApp before you pay a shilling. If a transport figure looks wrong, ask us and we will show you what we were charged.
Collecting yourself? Then you pay neither. The cooler box is optional and so is transport.
Delivery times depend on the boats, the weather and the transporter. We keep you informed on WhatsApp, and every order has an order number and tracking code you can check on the tracking page.
Where a rider is paid directly on delivery in Mombasa, that payment is between you and the rider.
We are based in Mombasa, Kenya, and we handle personal data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.
What we collect: your name, phone number and delivery address — only what is needed to pack and deliver your order — plus the contents of your order. We collect this because you send it to us, usually on WhatsApp.
What we do not collect: we take no card or bank details. This website has no login, no accounts and no advertising trackers. Items you add to your cart are stored on your own device, not on our servers, and clear when you send your order.
Visitor statistics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count how many people visit the site and which pages they read. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not build a profile of you or follow you to other websites. We see totals — pages viewed, country, device type — never individuals. This is why you are not greeted by a cookie banner.
Order tracking: your order record is held in a secure database. The tracking page can only return details when both the order number and the tracking code are entered together, and it never returns prices, costs or other customers' information.
Who we share with: only the rider or transporter delivering your order, and only the details needed to reach you. We do not sell, rent or trade your information to anyone, ever.
How long we keep it: order records are kept for our accounts and for repeat service. Ask us to delete your details and we will, unless we are required to keep a record for tax purposes.
Your rights: you may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Message 0787 668 888 or email mombasafish@gmail.com and we will respond within seven days.

Product information. We describe our seafood as accurately as we can, including Swahili and English names, cooking guidance and photographs. Fish are natural products — size, colour and exact weight vary. Photographs are representative of the species, not the individual fish you receive.
Health and handling. Cooking guidance on this site, including any suggestion of serving fish raw, is offered in good faith. Raw seafood carries inherent risk; if you are pregnant, elderly, immunocompromised, or unsure about handling, cook seafood thoroughly. Refrigerate on arrival and use within the timeframe we advise.
Content. The text, photographs and guides on this site belong to MombasaFish. You are welcome to share links and quote us with credit; please do not republish our photographs or copy the site wholesale.
Availability. The catch depends on the sea. Listed products may be unavailable on a given day, and we will tell you before you pay.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya.
